Eagles Night

Big night in Philadelphia. Predictions. Much maligned Eagles fans will cheer Andy Reid when he takes the field. They will cheer Donovan McNabb at halftime when his number is retired.

They will also launch a tornado of cheers from the Link if the New Eagles regime can win.

What do Eagles do? They fly. Past the hills and valleys of the past.

You’ll see.

    • Don’t ask me. I don’t even remember what it was. But he was around for a long time and he won a bunch of games. You could say the same for Andy Reid, and I never liked him either.

    • Seems to me jerseys are being retired far too often nowadays. It should be reserved for truly special players who probably should have been involved in bringing home a championship. John Elway, Curt Schilling, Walter Payton, Wayne Gretzky, etc.

Oh well. If Eagles fans are okay with it, then it doesn’t matter what I think. What’s next for McNabb, btw? ESPN analyst? Bring him into the CBS studio so they can have seven or eight guys talking over each other, or whatever the number’s up to now?

Andy Reid seems to be having something of a resurgence in the KC, though. More than McNabb had with another team, anyway.

      • I agree with you about retiring jerseys.

McNabb has already become a fixture on the new Fox sports network. He’s gotten off one or two decent lines. I believe broadcast communications was his major at Syracuse.

        • Not a Phys Ed major, then? Good for him. I haven’t been able to watch any of the studio stuff for years. They’re too gay now, the CBS show in particular. Ruined a couple of classic QBs from my youth as Dan Marino & Boomer Esiason are scripted to laugh uproariously at whatever incoherent statement just fell out of Shannon Sharpe’s mouth (heard his brother, Sterling, do a game from the booth once; he makes Jon Gruden sound like Albert Einstein). Fox is more bearable, but what do they need five or six guys for? The hot weather chick can stay, but it was fine back when it was just Terry, Howie & Token.

Actually, I take part of that back. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective ruined Dan Marino for me.
