The Numerology of Punks
by Henry Elders
The Punk Testament tells us, "At the beginning was the Shuteye Train":

H

U

Y

E

And, alternatively:
S

H

T

Plus:

All of which adds to:

In this case, there's absolutely no question about how we want to play
the blur. The righthand column is
the correct set of numbers for the Shuteye Train. The Punk Testament tells
us there are four members of the band. The association with the death card
seems completely apt to anyone who has read the book of Angels. And for
the truly punctilious, it must be noted -- with amazement, disbelief, or
the raising of the hairs on the back of your neck -- that Angels, in which
the Shuteye Train enforces the denouement, contains exactly 166 verses.
Another central punk figure is St. Nuke:
S

His association with "ultimate ice" includes the icepick with which
he dispatches the lead agent of Harry's angels.
There is also the evident alternative:

There may also be those who would seek to calculate a number for the
most illustrious female punk:
A

L

Nor should we overlook the punk personage to whom the Epistle Dedicatory

The mysterious Doctor Dream is also associated with an entity known
as the Raptor, who seems in some sense his forebear or sire. Together,
in sequence, they also produce an interesting number set:

Deus Ex Machina anyone? It would
seem inescapable that the Punk
Testament is purporting to portray a divine event.
