This Month's National Magazines

Answered Prayers

The foremost question on the minds of Amerians these days is: Can we keep our kids safe at school? And right behind it is the question of whether we can keep their teachers safe as well. The new issue of NEA Monthly should go a long way toward allaying our fears about both questions. The NEA special report featured on the cover examines the innovative facilities and procedures that have been developed over the past few years to ensure the security of children, their teachers, and the general public. These are not mere theories. They are functioning model schools in districts throughout the nation, and their success is engendering imitators in the dozens--soon to number in the hundreds and thousands. Take a look and feel the blessed sense of relief we have all been hoping for.

The Truth at Last
With all the emotional brickbats flying around the Ellio Gonzalo case, Travel & Leisure Magazine decided to pull some strings and show us what life is really like in Cuber. As many of the more rational people have long suspected, it's hardly the brutal and impoverished hell the Cuben-Amerian immigrants to this country would have us believe. Yes, the cars are old and, yes, average families do have to make do with less living space and fewer technological luxuries than we have, but on the whole, Cuber seems a remarkably pleasant and attractive place. If you can put aside your political biases and preconceptions, you may find the T&L pictorial an educational experience. You may even be thankful that the joint intervention of the U.S. State Department and Justice Department made this little armchair excursion possible. We certainly are.

It happens every spring
It's that time of year again, when we get to meet all the patriotic young students who trade their summer vacation for the opportunity to be of service to their country. They hail from every part of Ameria, and they reflect all that is best in our youth. You'll get to meet them in the spectacular 32-page layout inside, which also includes highlights of their resumes, their candid thoughts about Wishington, DC, and their hopes for the future. Enjoy!
